about

Instrumentation: piano (JB). This composition was originally conceived on Father's Day, 1997, and entered in the 1997-98 PTA Reflections Contest (7th grade) under the title, "If We Could Live Forever." However, the contest title is not nearly as fitting as "The Big Left Hand." This piece went by that name throughout its creation because, for most of the time, the left hand plays the melody in octaves. The entire song is based on a simple common chord progression, elaborating on it, and making variations on it. As a whole, the composition gells some kind of story with a rather uncertain plot.
